The Amicus Committee of CACJ launched into action under the able direction of its long-time leader John Philipsborn, who has been joined as co-chair by President-Elect of CACJ, Ann Moorman. Raphael Goldman, of Arguedas,Cassman, and Headley and Stephen Dunkle,of Sanger & Swysen have joined the committee as regular brief writers. We are excited by the talent on this new Amicus Committtee.

CACJ files many amicus curiae briefs in state and federal courts each year, providing defense counsel and the judiciary with expertise on issues affecting the constitutional rights of the accused. The amicus committee has made significant contributions in two recent decisions Missouri v. Seibert (banning delayed Miranda) and People v. Neal (intentional Miranda violation is a factor to be considered in judging voluntariness among many others).
