The San Bernardino County Public Defender is recruiting for a Chief Deputy Public Defender. Positions in this class are characterized by the responsibility to manage and supervise through subordinates a large staff of attorneys and to perform the most difficult assignments involving complex factual and legal issues. Positions report to the Public Defender.

The present assignments for this position is as the Chief in Charge of the Homicide Defense Unit. This Unit handles only special circumstance homicide cases.

Minimum Requirements: Five Years of the criminal trial experience as a defense attorney, which includes at least three years of experience supervising attorneys, trying capital cases, or trying special-circumstance cases.
