International Bridges to Justice (IBJ), a nongovernmental,
nonprofit organization with a presence in North America,
Europe, Asia and Africa,
seeks a Training Specialist in its Geneva Office. IBJ is a human rights
organization with a specific commitment to the legal development of criminal
justice systems in developing countries. In partnership with local governments
and legal aid organizations, IBJ trains criminal defenders and enhances local
capacity to provide effective legal aid to persons who are arrested and accused
of a crime.
Duties: The Training Specialist will be accountable for the development of an
overall training plan and training components of country programs and the
development of standardized training materials to support IBJ country
development. The Training Specialist will also deliver training as needed for country
programs. Work will also involve the maintenance of external relationships and
directing IBJ lawyers, interns and volunteers to accomplish objectives.
Qualifications: The applicant should have at least three
years experience criminal law training in a public defender or criminal defense
office. Experience or knowledge of legal training needs of developing countries
is highly valued. A demonstrable interest in international development,
preferably in the rule of law and human rights is useful. An advanced degree in
law is preferred and criminal law experience is required. The applicant must
possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Fluency
in English is required.
Salary: Commensurate with experience, subject to a
non-profit organization range.
