To those considering appointment in state capital habeas work in a post-Prop 66 world:

In anticipation of the rules governing the application and selection of counsel to represent death-sentenced individuals in state habeas proceedings, CCDS will be offering a one-time program focused on giving attendees an overview of the process, the scope of responsibilities, and tools to accomplish the work effectively and efficiently within the new, 1-year time frame.

It is a one day course as an addition to the curriculum of the historic Capital Case Defense Seminar that will result in additional MCLE credit AND a certificate in Post Prop 66 procedures. This course will occur on Friday beginning in the morning and ending by 3 pm. It will be in addition to the Friday through Monday CCDS event.

The cost: $95 in addition to the CCDS tuition.

The credit: an additional 5.5 hours of MCLE credit directly related to capital habeas work.

Whether you are an experienced post-conviction capital litigator or not, this program is indispensable if you are considering seeking a capital habeas appointment under the new rules.
